International Sites and Spills Expo
Clean Up The World
The first annual International Sites and Spills Expo wrapped up on Friday November 4, 2011.
The show, presented by HazMat Management magazine, was a great success with many positive comments from delegates, speakers and exhibitors.
During the course of the two day event, over 350 attendees and conference] attended 35 conference sessions and interacted with 60 exhibitors in the trade show hall. Several exhibitors were really pleased with the quality of the attendees as witnessed by Gord Bures from Fracrite, who exclaimed, “I’ve already renewed my space for next year – I have several really good leads from this conference, it was definitely worth my trip from Alberta. This first time event was really first class!
In fact over 25% of the exhibitors renewed their exhibit space on site at the show. “We are really excited to see such a positive response from our exhibitors, claimed Carol Bell-LeNoury, General Manager for the event – this bodes well for expanding the show floor in 2012”.
Speaker sessions were well attended including a full room to hear Mike Harcourt, with the keynote address who challenged the audience to continue their excellence in sustainable thinking and engineering and utilizing new technologies to make a difference in our world.
The International Sites and Spills Environmental Awards were presented to the following individuals for their excellence in their promoting new concepts, technology and furthering environmental sustainability.
| | •Mike Harcourt, Sustainable Solutions was awarded the International Sites and Spills Leadership Award for his quest to make all cities more livable; |
| | • Dave Harper, Kilmer Brownfield Equity Fund was awarded the 2011 Brownfields Award for the Zero valent technology that remediates soil for large site restoration project - Toronto, Ontario; |
| | • Dec Doran, Oil Spills Control Services Inc. won the HazMat Award for the Emergency response to the Enbridge Spill in Tallmadge Creek, Michigan; |
| | • Brad Marchant, BioteQ Environmental Technologies won the Clean Tech Award for the Sulphide precipitation on acid mine drainage at the Wellington Oro Mine. |
In summary, the International Sites and Spills Expo is off to a great start and the management of the event would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of the participants and attendees that made the event an initial success.
